SHIRO KAMO BLACK

Shiro Kamo, Aogami Black series

I've placed "Shiro Kamo" on hold due to long lead times. I'm monitoring the situation and we'll see if this can be replaced by another interesting brand later this summer.

A few years ago, I was looking for a blacksmith who could produce a wide range of knife types using Aogami steel. I came across Shiro Kamo’s work, and his "Black" series met my expectations perfectly.

These hand-forged knives are made of Aogami #2 steel and finished with a Kurouchi coating. The blades are heat-treated to a hardness of 63–64 HRC.

This series – especially the Gyuto – is, in my opinion, the most stylish Kurouchi-coated knife I’ve seen. Style is of course subjective, but I believe many will fall in love with this line. The overall quality, and especially the level of finish, is exceptionally high.

Later on, the SG2 series by Shiro Kamo was added to the lineup. As many know, SG2 belongs to the elite class of knife steels. Staying true to his style, Shiro Kamo created a beautifully dark Damascus pattern for this line.
