The result of product development is a leather strop with a surface that is nearly perfect for diamond emulsions and Luxor pastes.
The final result was achieved through trial and error. I found a Grade 1 leather approximately 4 mm thick. The glossy, hard surface was sanded down, revealing an excellent base for both diamond emulsions and pastes.
The reverse side of the strop features the same leather, but with the underside exposed. This provides an alternative, slightly harder surface that also works well with Luxor pastes. This surface is resin-treated and performs incredibly well as a hard strop on its own. If desired, you can sand this surface smooth to achieve the same finish as on the other side.
The hardness and thickness of the leather make this strop extremely durable. You can refresh it by sanding if desired.
An M1-certified solvent-free glue was used for the bonding, so these strops are odor-free.
