This flexible abrasive rubber is commonly known as a “rust eraser”, and the name says it all: rub it like an eraser and the rust comes off. The abrasive blended into the rubber effectively removes surface rust and patina from knives, and by working over the entire blade you get a more even, cleaner-looking finish.
Grit #240 is the finest option in the series. It leaves the finest finish, making it ideal for removing light surface rust and patina, dulling scratches and finishing work. It is also great for smoothing the surface after a coarser rust eraser. For deeper rust, choose medium #120 (MS102) or coarse #80 (MS101).
For cleaning whetstones
Perhaps the best feature of this product: it cleans the surface of a whetstone incredibly quickly, even in seconds. Wet the stone, rub the surface and rinse, and the stone is ready to use again. Note that the rust eraser does not flatten the stone; it removes metal and dirt that have built up on the surface.
Uses
