I just say Wow.. Usually I don't go higher than 6000 grit but I read good things about this stone so I went for it. :) I have done an experiment. I sharpened one of my knives only with 1000 Grit and after that I jumped to this one directly. Wow.. seriously surprised me how sharp and nicely polished edge I've got, without using a leather strop at the end. And the stone doesn't wear quickly. I guess it will last for a very long time for me (not professional use).
