Product description

CERAX is a well-known and respected brand of traditional whetstones. This #1000 grit stone is one of the best semi-abrasive stones. A minimum of 20 minutes of immersion is recommended, but I usually use this with a 2-minute bath and always add water if needed. So you can start using it very quickly. You can try this stone with several different amounts of water and get very different results.

NOTE!

This whetstone is a so-called semi-soaking stone. It works best after 5-10 minutes of soaking. Do not store the stone in a basin of water. After sharpening, immediately wipe the stone clean with a towel. This will give the stone a clean look and start the drying process. Place the stone to dry in a position where it does not touch a solid surface. For example, place the stone on top of a pencil. Allow the stone to dry slowly, without additional heating. Do not place the stone in direct sunlight. Do not allow the stone to freeze when wet. It takes more than 24 hours to dry. Store the stone protected from dents, for example, in its box.

Cerax 1000 is the best medium stone for me because i like it's agressive, smooth, creamy slurry, awesome feedback that i dont find in other stones like thise one. Great for Kasumi finish. I'm using it for over 1 year now and this is my second Cerax 1000. But that is because im a knife sharpener and i use it daily for many sharpenings and different blade finishes

I guess this stone needs no introduction. It's one of the best 1000 grit stones. Personally I use two 1000 grit stones, the Naniwa Chosera and this Cerax. I cannot tell which is "the best". The Cerax needs a little less soaking than the Naniwa but that's it. Both are amazing stones. Seriously. I absolutely love the feeling when I sharpen the knife. They have exactly the "grip" that you need to create a good sharp edge.

It is a softer stone, with excellent feedback and relatively good speed. If you prefer a harder surface, consider something like a Shapton. Otherwise, it is an excellent stone. It feels like a 2000 grit stone sometimes, rather than 1000.
