Suehiro Pack

Suehiro's two-stone package contains the leading stones of their kind. I classify these stones as semi-soakers. 

The package includes Cerax 1010 stone. This #1000 grit stone is a conscientious stone from the beginning of sharpening. The stone requires about 15-20 minutes of dipping and gives a very pleasant slurry right from the start.

The Rika 5000 stone is well suited for finishing and is surprisingly effective. A nice thin, slippery slurry forms on the surface, making knife finishing pleasant.

 With these stones, you can vary the amount of water to get different results. For example, by keeping the stones overnight in a water basin, the surface becomes softer. Although the sharpening process becomes messier, the sharpening feel is so different that this is worth a try. 

For leveling, Suehiro's durable 280 flattening stone is included, which as an exceptionally long stone, makes flattening more effective and works well as a surface-opening stone.

The tried and tested, high-quality Naniwa holder holds the package in place. 

NOTE!

This whetstone is a so-called semi-soaking stone. It works best after 5-10 minutes of soaking. Do not store the stone in a basin of water. After sharpening, immediately wipe the stone clean with a towel. This will give the stone a clean look and start the drying process. Place the stone to dry in a position where it does not touch a solid surface. For example, place the stone on top of a pencil. Allow the stone to dry slowly, without additional heating. Do not place the stone in direct sunlight. Do not allow the stone to freeze when wet. It takes more than 24 hours to dry. Store the stone protected from dents, for example, in its box.
